Here are five tips to help get you prepared for your photo shoot!

  1. Apply Makeup in Natural Light

Applying makeup in natural light is one of the best ways to see what it will end up looking like in your photos. Natural light will make it easy to see all the details of your face and the true color match of all your products.

  2. Prep Your Skin

Before applying any makeup, ensure you skin is prepped well. Wash your face, apply moisturizer and a skin primer so that your makeup holds out through your shoot. Prepping your skin can also help with how your makeup lays on the skin so that it will be smooth and flawless looking, as well as not smear or move around during the shoot.

  3. Keep Shimmer and Glitter to a Minimum

Since you will likely be with a photographer using flash, try and keep shimmers and glitters to a minimum as it will catch the light in photos and become much brighter than it looks in a day to day setting. Using matte shadows and products will be best to create a stunning look that captures well on camera.

  4. Use Translucent Powder

Use powder to help tone down any shine in your face. Having this powder on hand during your shoot will also be helpful for any touchups. Just be sure to avoid products with titanium dioxide, as it creates flashback in photos and can be unflattering.

  5. Practice Your Look Before the Shoot

Practice the exact look you want to try for your shoot so that you know how to do it and can spend some time deciding whether it is the look for you. This way you can also make any adjustments as needed for when the actual day comes.
